I noticed this week the values of Coca Cola.  What would happen if we got this passionate about Jesus this summer?

This Sunday is Mother’s Day.  If you haven’t made plans for Mom yet here are a few ideas:

1. Bring her to church on Sunday.

2. Write her a card with some meaningful words.

3. Give Mom breakfast in bed.

4. Give her the day off.  Clean the house!

5. Watch Survivor Finale with her Sunday night!

6. Buy her lunch or dinner.

7. Tell her how much you love her.

8. Take a family picture.

9. Give her a hug.

10. Bring her to church.  Did I mention that already?

This past Sunday, I got an email from someone who came to church for the first time. Here are an excerpt:

“I just wanted to say that it really hit home today… It must of been that god was directing me there. You see exactly 1 week ago I was sitting in my hallway with a gun under my chin… Your message today truley showed me that there is a reason for me to be here… I will be back to your church. That first message had me hooked and I cannot wait for your next series to begin i know it will be another awesome message. Once again thank you.”

• When we greet people on Sunday, your smile and handshake can change their lives.
• When we care about people, they feel God’s love.
• When we set up church, we can reach out to those who need it most.
• When we invite people, we never really know how hard their life may be at the moment.
• When we show up, we get to see God move.
• When we give, we make it possible to offer counseling.
• When we challenge people to follow Jesus, God moves.
• We started Aviator Church to see a city transformed one life at a time. This guy’s life fits the bill.

This past week, we took pictures of empty chairs next our seats in church and posted them to invite people to church.  Michelle put hers up without writing anything and here is what happened.
 

The amazing part is that we ate dinner with Gabe, Michelle, and their kids on Tuesday and they came to our Aviator Croup that night.  They will be in church Sunday.  Who are you inviting?

Summer is probably my favorite time of the year in our church because we get to engage so many new people in our communities.  Will you start praying and asking God how He might use you to reach someone who still doesn’t know Jesus?  You, and I mean you – the one reading this right now- are God’s best person to reach someone you know at work, home, and on the street.  What will be your story this summer?  When we ask How God is using you to grow the Kingdom, what will you say?  We are excited to see how God moved through you to change someone’s life for ever!

Last night, I was driving home after writing my sermon until 1 am and I stopped by McDonald’s on the way home (Don’t judge me). I drove through and pulled up to the window and sat there waiting for my food.  The girl in the window asked me if I was a pastor.  She said she recognized me because her mom and dad go to our church.  She shared a few things and we ended up having a discussion about addiction and how to walk away from it.  She told me that her way of dealing with it wasn’t working.  She seemed open, so I got to share my story about alcohol and how Jesus freed me.  I could tell she was really soaking it up.  When she brought the food, I asked if I could pray for her and she said yes.  So last night, I got to share Jesus with a young lady at a McDonald’s drive through and we were both moved to tears.  That is city transformation.  People meeting Jesus 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. I’m lovin’ it!

It was this time last year that we started surgeries with our son, Koehn.  We watched God do incredible things this year.  Last year we were told our son would need surgery on his back, stomach, legs, and hip.  We finally finished our last round of surgery before Easter and we were told after his hip surgery it would be weeks before he stood on his own and even longer before he walked.  They removed the cast from his hip surgery two weeks ago.  Our son stands and walks and it has been less than 2 weeks.

Someone asked me if he walked on his own and I responded by saying no.  Our son walks because God is so good.  If it were not for God, he wouldn’t have life.

We have had an amazing few weeks at Aviator Church and today was exceptional.  We saw about 1300 people come to church and so many people give their lives to Jesus.  Like Acts 2, people heard the message and believed and were baptized.  We challenged people to take their first step by believing Jesus and their second step by being obedient in baptism and 63 people responded.  It was amazing.  Simply amazing.

Some one asked asked me how we got so many people to respond, and much like the question about our son, my response is the same.  It is all God.  God is doing amazing things.  He is the one that died for our sins.  He conquered death and rose from the grave.  If it weren’t for Jesus, Aviator Church would have no life.  Jesus is the life and love of our church.  We love you Jesus.

Hey Aviators,

This lasts weekend, we taught a message called Liquid Courage which explains why baptism is so important.  Several people responded by signing up for Easter baptisms.  That’s right!  People are coming dry and leaving wet.  If you want to know more about baptism, you can watch the LIQUID COURAGE MESSAGE or visit our LIQUID COURAGE LANDING PAGE.

THIS WEEK PLEASE DO 4 THINGS:

1. PRAY – I don’t say that because it’s the churchy/Christian thing to say…but rather because without the power and presence of God in our worship services we are simply screwed when it comes to accomplishing anything of eternal significance (see John 15:5-8!)  Let’s BEG GOD all week long to give people ears to HEAR the Gospel…and the willingness to respond!!!  (Also…check out Luke 18:1-8!)

2. INVITE - Let’s go ALL OUT, doing EVERYTHING possible to get people to church this week!  Don’t just ask them to come…BRING THEM!!!  (I’m asking EVERYONE in our church to take about a minute to read Luke 14:15-23 & ask God who you need to bring!!!)  ALL OF US have friends and family members that are FAR FROM GOD…let’s not give up on them because God didn’t give up on us!!!

3. FACEBOOK – If you haven’t updated your timeline yet, you can join our ranks by becoming a Facebook Ninja.

4. BRING – Bring people with you.  The first thing Andrew did when he met Jesus was bring his brother to meet Him, and it changed both their lives forever!  Bring someone to church this Sunday!

Today we tackled the topic of Hell at Aviator Church.  Wow.  74% of Americans believe in Heaven but less than 40% believe in Hell.  The greatest move Satan can make is convincing the World that Hell does not exist so that two things happen.

1. No one feels bad about rejecting or ignoring Jesus.

2. No one feels the URGENCY of sharing the saving power of Jesus.

Don’t fall for it.  Invite people to church this week.  If you have been gone for spring break, get back to church this week.  Bring people who are far from God with you this week.  Seriously, let’s tell Satan where to go!  Be a bringer!
